ten local schools, including west springfield high school where the suspects attend school. police can't give a lot of details because the people involved are juveniles. but this is what we learned so far as we take a look at video. this child exploitation, covered at west springfield high school back in november. after a one month investigation, fairfax county police arrested three students at the school. the teenage boys are said to be student athletes. the boys drugged the girls, had sex with them. video taped them and distributed those tapes. the students are charged with possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography. >> that's the charge? i can't get into the specifics as to what it entailed. i can't add that all the victims involved in this. we do have six girl victims in this. all the girls are teenagers.

all the girls attend local area high schools and those are the victims here. >> just something you wouldn't expect out of this school. >> i mean, all these people, i have known those kids, they went to our elementary school. we have known them for a long time. you never think one of your friends could do that stuff. >> all right, back here live, police say all of the alleged victims and suspects knew each other. they aren't sure if there might be anymore alleged victims out there, but they are putting the word if anyone was a part of this to come forward. it isn't clear if more people are involved or more charges might be filed. this investigation is clearly on going. in fairfax county, maurine, fox 5 news. brian. the edge on d.c. now. a big announcement. the district's chief financial officer is leaving his job later this year. since 2000, he became cfo. now he has been cheered by some, jeered by others. the news comes days after he announced the district had a huge surplus. matt acklin is live with more.

matt. >> the city is in great financial shape. $1.5billion in the bank. it comes as pressure has been on him because of questions about tax assessments and transparency. mayor gray said today, i'm sorry to see him go. >> he joined the district government when it was struggling. following a federal controlled board, gandi helped build the city's financial reputation. even boasting about it earlier this week at a press conference. >> in the mid 90s to triple-a. this is truly a financial renaissance. >> in a letter to mayor gray, he said, quote, i feel comfortable retiring at this time because the city is in excellent financial condition. perhaps the best in its history. >> he has done a great job as

our chief financial officer and he made hard work look easy. >> he has also been cfo during dark days. most memorable in 2007, when tax office manager, harriette walters, was discovered ripping off taxpayers. $48million over many years. more recently, there have been questions about a lottery contract, changes to tax assessments, and transparency when it comes to the city's finances. >> there's no question that he and i have had differences of opinion. >> council member has long been a critic of gandi. recently suggesting he should step down if issues weren't resolved. >> there have been missteps in the past. i have not been shy about pointing them out. on a day like this, i want to thank him for his service. >> he will keep working until june. this will give the city plenty of time to conduct a search, council member suggested, instead of the district posting the position and asking for

resumes, it should actively go after the best in the business, brian. >> d.c. residents may give money back this tax season. if you have an outstanding debt to the city. starting this year, d.c.'s office of tax and revenue will begin intercepting refunds. including parking tickets, red light camera tickets and unpaid child support. the city council passed the measure last year as part of budget support act. the edge on maryland where iestigators are still trying to determine the cause of a house fire that killed two young sisters in frederick county last night. around 11:30, home to jack and krisie and their four daughters. sophie and mady, ages 6 and 3 were unable to get out alive. >> felt so helpless. the fire company came. i was my baby. i want my baby. i can't do anything because the

fire was so -- the house was involved in flames so much. >> parents and eight-year-old daughter, morgan, and seven month old daughter were able to get out alive. mrs. willard jumped out of the house and the oldest daughter was lowered from a window. the former police officer who gunned down a cul perp woman as she drove away will spend three years behind bars. fox 5's john hanrahan has reaction in culpeper tonight. >> in virginia, juries fixed sentences, but the judge can review the sentence at a later hearing. the judge can decrease the sentence or leave it as is, but the judge cannot increase the sentence. daniel harmon-wright will spend more than three years in jail. things could have turned out far worse for the 33-year-old former police officer. shocked to death, a woman motorist last year when tried to pull away. defense attorney, daniel hawes told the jury, that he had to

make a snap decision. he told jurors he will never again seek employment in law enforcement. the prosecutor told the jury the policeman slaughtered the 54-year-old woman. with the option of sentencing up to 25 years of voluntary manslaughter, the jury came back with a three-year, maximum sentence. >> i think that the jury did the best they could. struggled with a difficult case. i think it was important to be forceful and zealous. at the end of the day, i'm pleased with the jury's judgment. i think they did a good job. they worked hard in this case to be fair. you know, in the end, there's no perfect system. it's the system that we have and i stand by. >> earlier, the defense asked for a mistrial in this case because some jurors had

a news alert overseas tonight. the u.s. ambassador to turkey says the u.s. embassy is safe. a suicide bomber set off an explosion inside the security check point, kill ago turkish guard. the brick wall, but did not cause serious damage to the complex. that attack comes on hillary clinton's last day as secretary of state. for months, she said she is ready to get some rest. she seemed to have mixed feelings about leaving her post. >> i cannot fully express how grateful i am to those with whom i have spent many hours

changeable month. we did have snow to start the day. it ended up being .2 at reagan national. we had a half inch to an inch in the gaithersburg area. a little more in frederick. so hopefully didn't cause too many problems, but i understand for some people early on, it was slipping and sliding. we're looking at the weekend here. it's going to be a chilly one. with another fast moving clipper coming through tomorrow night and into the first part of sunday and maybe a couple off and on snow showers on sunday. so again, we're thinking this is going to be a coating to half an inch or so for most of you, but don't let it take you by surprise if you are out driving. i'll show you the future cast so you have an idea what to expect with the next round of clipper snows. boy is it cold tonight. gaithersburg and frederick, as well as winchester and martinsburg are down to 21 degrees. and cumberland is 19. hagerstown 20 degrees. we've also got a bit of a

windchill. it's better than it was, but not by much. hagerstown, 29 up toward frederick. you take that very cold temperature and those gusty winds and you get windchills that are in the single digits to about the middle eens so a very cold night. too cold to have animals out. i know we tell you that all the time, but i want to remind you, if you're going to be heading out, you will have to bundle up. left over showers coming over the lakes, but still getting big streamers up there. the beginning of our next clipper system, here it is. we see it coming out of minnesota. spread clouds tomorrow afternoon and again some snow showers tomorrow evening and we're thinking once again, with the pattern with this next one, heavier snow up through ohio and western pennsylvania and perhaps enough to coat us this weekend. especially tomorrow night and into sunday. so here's your future cast. the last stop here, we'll show you what we are talking about

for sunday. at 6:00, in the mountains. between 6 and 10, we have a few snow showers that rotate on through the area and maybe a few more in the overnight hours sunday and off and on snow showers a little bit to get us through the day. fox 5accuweather forecast. it is going to be it for us with that clipper around saturday night into sunday. another cold day monday and then maybe tuesday into wednesday, another fast moving clipper. it's going to be a clipper week next week. >> okay, happy ending for a dog in tennessee whose owner dropped him off at the shelter because he thought the animal was gay. the dog's owner says he decided to give elton away after he found him humping another male dog. once elton's story went viral, the shelter went crazy with phone calls. he is doing just fine. >> it's a natural instinct for a dog. it doesn't mean anything about his gender or anything of that

nature. dogs are dogs. it's a dominance thing and he is actually extremely submissive. he loves my dog, you know, he is blending in really good. >> the dog was said to be euthanized if no one adopted him. two days away from the super bowl. a super bowl first. a joint press conference with the two head coaches. we'll hear from both jim and john next in sports. but first, the man expected a small fortune after finding valuable whale vomit on a uk beach. that's right. what vomit. ted williams found a piece of smelly rock on a recent walk. he quickly put it down, but did a google research and figured it was a waxy by-product of sperm whale digestion. he has been offered $136,000 for the material. ♪
